Friday is here...

So, last night was the Pacific Rim Multisport event @ the Runners Den in Port Moody. What a great time! I got to meet with Coach Shaun as well as a few of the other Pacific Rim Multisport athletes. We started off with the owner of the Runners Den, Paul Slaymaker, talking to us about compression wear and the benefits of wearing these items for recovery. It seems that there are many different thoughts on using them for races…but recovery seems to be where it is at. It was also mentioned that they can be worn on long trips in the car as well as air travel. This was some good information as I am always traveling for work! As well…Paul pointed out, that you can get very good results for muscle recovery with an ice bath…but why would you do that when you can get the same results with quality compression wear.

Also discussed was the fore foot running phenomenon that is happening right now. It was mentioned that although running fore foot is a good things…it must be approached with caution. You can not just jump into these things. Changing your running gait quickly can really cause injury, so take things slowly.

After the information session…most of us just wandered around the store and looked at all the different items that where in stock. Coach Shaun tracked me down, and as a new member…gave me a lecture! “Time for you to come out with the group for some of the weekend rides.” It was not really a lecture; he just wanted to make sure that I understood that no one gets left behind. He had the feeling that I was a little pensive about being a new rider, and joining up with more advanced riders. Everyone has to start out somewhere to become more experienced. It was a really good conversation, and I was happy that we got to talk in person.

All in all…it was a really good night for me. It was nice to see some of the other members of the group and to learn some new information.

Now…it is time to put that information to good use…and get out there and start moving!

That is all…

Tribork…out…
